Today is the first day I've had to do any writing for over a week.
I haven't stopped, what with Ikea, helping workmates with decorating and going out drinking with a load of Russians I just haven't had the time.
So I'm gonna do it.

Another weekend lost to the demon drink.
Why is it all my guests save up their drinking stamina for the whole year to come and splurge it out at my place? The sad fact is that I can't do it anymore, drinking that is. I'm still good to go with the other thing, no problems there...

Look, let's just not go there, eh?

Anyway, I can keep up with the pace, it's just the days after that slay me.
One day my mates will come round and the strongest beverage we'll drink will be herbal tea.
Unfortunately it'll probably be when we HAVE to drink herbal tea because our ravaged coils have given up the ghost when it comes to booze.
I'm not complaining... but I am, sort of. Only because I'm not too perky at the moment though.

Oh whatever.
So, anyway, somebody else who has an idea of the literary world also thinks the Youwriteon.com thing isn't good.
So now I'm satisfied I'm doing the right thing by ignoring it.
Just need to slip back into the right frame of mind to do some writing again.

Ikea tomorrow. Now that has cast rather a dark cloud on the horizon.
Carrying heavy furniture and spending money on stuff that doesn't interest me, (like Nordic Jumble).
Bah.

What an awful day yesterday was.
I spent all day painting, then came home to watch Wales get beaten by Germany, 1-0.
Bah.
We defended well with a few breaks on the counter. John Toshack said he'd be happy with a 0-0 draw and so would I have been.
However, it was not to be and Piotr Trochowski broke Welsh hearts around 70 minutes into the game with a cracker of a goal, all be it a cracker forthe German side.
Haven't done anything literal for a couple of days. I've just been decorating, filling holes in and sleeping, (not used to hard workI'm afraid).
Whatever, today is Ikea, (bah) and tomorrow and Saturday, Power Drinking the order of the day...

Well, not much to report to be honest.
I'm just slowly labouring the first couple of chapters still.
Finding the time is the hard part. It seems that everybody and the Bassett hound needs my help to renovate/dig holes/service their wife... ok, the last one was just to see of you're paying attention.
Anyway, as I said, time is at an all time premium at the moment.
I have my own holes to dig too, did I mentioned that?
Sheesh, who'd be me, eh?

So I've completely rehashed the first part of the book, well the part that was written in the first person.
Now I'll just do the rest.
I'm glad I decided not to send it off to the Youwriteon thing. There's a lot of reasons to do it and a lot of reasons not to. However, my main cause for retracting my interest is simply because it didn't sit right with me.
I didn't feel good with the whole thing and that's very important in my eyes.
Anyway, knackered now I am so I'm gonna close down my computer and maybe watch some tv.

Well the publshing firm who print and sell the POD books replied to my question about the cost.
Their answer was along the lines of that it will cost as much as any other book.
Vague to say the least.
So....
what to do, what to do?

The majority of people who answered my call for feedback, (and I thank you all for it) were against the whole thing, which reinforced my initial thoughts on the matter after reading the contract.
So, after much pondering on the subject I've decided not to go for it.
I'll sort out the first couple of chapters and simply plod on in the traditional manner, agent, publisher, bookshop.
I just need an agent now, lol.

If I can't find one I'll try Lulu.com or Booksurge, who have definite answers to questions like how much will the book be sold for and what exactly do I get by way of a distribution service.
Also I can do this in my own time and not worry about rushing an unedited MS off before the end of the month.
So, after briefly dipping my little toe into the waters of literary aspiration, I've taken it out again because I found it too cold.
And that's that.
Right, it's the wife's birthday today and we're all going for a meal so I'll bid you all a fond farewell.

Farewell.
